Norfolk To Host SYTA and SGMP National Conferences
Norfolk, VA (February, 2007) - The Student and Youth Travel Association (SYTA®) and The Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP®) have each selected Norfolk, Virginia as the host city for their National conferences.
SYTA will host its conference in 2009 and the SGMP conference is scheduled for 2011. Both conferences will draw more than 2,000 delegates to Norfolk.
“The Norfolk CVB is honored to be hosting these two prestigious groups in coming years. Both the ever increasing student travel market and the critically important government travel markets are keys to our long term success. We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate to both groups why seeing is believing!” stated Anthony DiFilippo, president and CEO of the Norfolk Convention and Visitors Bureau.
SYTA, a leading trade association and “The Voice of Student and Youth Travel®,” will host its September 2009 conference for more than 1,000 attendees at the Waterside Convention Center located in downtown Norfolk.
Tour operator members of this nonprofit professional trade association formed in 1997 account for almost $2 billion in student and youth travel, and trips for over 1.5 million participants each year.
SGMP will host its 2011 conference for more than 1,000 delegates. Returning to Norfolk after a successful event in 2002, SGMP is a nonprofit professional organization of persons involved in planning government meetings and those individuals who supply services to government planners.
